Executive Director – Dawn of Life Foundation (DOLF)
Uloma Gift Akoma is a foremost Community development professional and activist with over twenty years demonstrable experience in the development sector, covering Health, Education, Gender, Household Economic strengthening, Nutrition, Ageing, and Project management.
She facilitated the establishment of Dawn of Life Foundation in August 2003, and was appointed her first Executive Director. DOLF is a frontline indigenous Non-governmental, not for profit developmental organization committed to working with poor and vulnerable communities in finding lasting solutions to poverty and poor health in Nigeria. Thematic areas include Quality and affordable Healthcare services, Education for All and Nutrition. Under her leadership, DOLF has reached out to at least 9000 communities across Nigeria with the support of various development partners including World Bank, European Union, Global fund, ARFH, TBNetwork, ACOMIN, National and State governments, etc. to bring life change and smiles to thousands of people.
From there, she has gone ahead to start Dawn of Life Group, a network of development agencies which includes Dawn of life foundation, Dawn of life Academy, Dawn Foods and Farm Projects Ltd, DOLF Community Wellness Centre and DOLF Skill Acquisition Centre.
She is highly creative, very resilient and passionate. She is a project manager, financial consultant for small businesses, certified Teacher, public speaker, and a life skills coach and mentor. She is a Church leader, Network marketer and Naturopath.
She holds an MBA in Project Management from Federal University of Technology, Owerri, B. Sc.Ed in Accounting from Abia State University, Uturu, PGD Project Management Technology from Federal University of Technology, Owerri, HND in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, and Member, Institute of Natural lifestyle of Nigeria and Ibadan Institute of Natural Medicine.
She has a multi sector working experience. Some of the organizations include United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Abia State University Teaching Hospital Aba, Natures Renaissance International , Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition(ACOMIN) and Dawn of Life Foundation. She is a National Steering Committee member Civil Society for the Eradication of Tuberculosis in Nigeria. Technical Working Group Member, National Senior Citizens Centre, Executive Member- Rivers State Ageing Consultative Forum. She is a Board Chair and Member to many Non-governmental organizations and Networks including Society for the Eradication of HIV Among Children, Centre for Creative Development Strategies, Market Women Development Initiative and PLAN Health Foundation Nigeria many more.
Her expertise includes Community engagement and mobilization, Project design, Baseline Assessment and Mapping, Planning and implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation skills. She is highly skilled in communications, advocacy, networking and partnerships. Specific areas of development activities are Tuberculosis interventions, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Nutrition, Leprosy, Education for Vulnerable Children: Livelihood support.
She is married and enjoys family life.
